Magical Spring

I think there's always something magical

about spring...especially when you 

have our gorgeous mountains still white with snow, 

then you have the valley that is blooming 

with bright vibrant flowers, and green rolling pastures.

The contrast is quite the sight.

And it's not difficult to appreciate

the beauty that constantly surrounds me.

Goodbye summer until hopefully June or sooner,

but knowing Utah weather it won't be

until about July till I really feel like you've arrived.

It was a great summer with evening walks, the sound of crickets,

barbecues, tennis, outdoor concerts, the smell of bonfires & smore's,

camping, swimming, corn on the cob & shaved ice to name a few faves.

So till next year dearest summer, I'll be anxiously waiting!

Lady Irene has arrived.

Hurricane Irene is here.

I am not in Utah, I flew to the east coast and arrived on Friday morning.

I have always had impeccable timing for things like these.

The plan went like this:

Long Island for some beach time.

Shopping.

Eating all my faves.

Top of the Rock.

US Open

etc

etc

Has any of that happened?

Nope.

But all is well. We are safe and that's all that matters.

I am staying with friends in NYC.

They are gems and have everything ready.

We have 72 hour kits, food galore, water and are just waiting.

Waiting for what Irene has in store for us.

We hope its mild, but the news says otherwise.

At the moment, the window is cracked open.

I can feel the wind, hear the rain and

we're watching Australia.

The first of many movies I'm sure unless our power goes out.

I am hoping that by tomorrow evening we can go out

and try to enjoy some time in the city and hopefully

the US Open on Monday, fingers crossed.

But for now all I really hope for is safety,

the rest is just icing on the cake.

Let it Snow

I looked out the window this morning to finally see a bit of snow on the ground, thank goodness!

There's only a little, but it's much better than nothing. It's December and we've hardly gotten any snow--even our 'blizzard of the century' was a doozy.

A white Christmas is a must in my opinion--still hoping for it.

Please pull through Mother Nature.

Spring weather and all it entails.

{Typical Utah evening. See how there are dark clouds and then there is also sun shining through. I believe this evening there was rain coming down while the sun was shining. Which actually is spectacular to look at.}

Weather in Utah is special--in a, not so special, warm your heart, kind of way.

If you aren't familiar with Utah weather I will give you a brief explanation. There are days where it'll be beautiful. It'll be just the right temperature, warm, a cool breeze. It's just perfect. No humidity to drench your clothes, frizz your hair. It's great.

Then in one second. The temperature drops, there are snowflakes coming down and the black clouds hover over you.

This spring has not been any different. Remember my little plea to Mother Nature last year?

This brings up another point.

What should one wear during this exciting period of multiple personalities Mother Nature goes through?

I can't figure out if I still need to keep the boots, sweaters, scarves, gloves close by; or if I need to pull out all the spring attire?

This is how a week goes for me.

I get up, look out the window. I see my beloved sun, so I instantly pull out the lighter weight clothes.

Go throughout my day to then notice there is snow on the ground.

Not so awesome.

So then I freeze.

Tell me dear friends. What do you do to survive this madness??
