Flaming Gorge

Since I've got a big trip to Asia next week I've stuck around Utah for weekend
getaways in order to save money.  It's been a while since I've stuck
around home for so long during the summer.  Usually I'm out and about traveling and
exploring new places.  But it's given me such an appreciation for this
beautiful state I live in.  I keep discovering and re-discovering new places
that are absolutely stunning.

Last weekend a group of us went to Flaming Gorge, it's between Utah and Wyoming.
I had no idea how pretty it'd be, but wow I was blown away by the deep emerald water,
the red and white rock backgrounds and how perfect the weather was.

We camped on a little island that was only accessible by boat, it was a dream.
We had no cell phone service which was even better to really get away from
it all and relax and we spent our days playing in the water, boating, jumping off the dock,
relaxing and chatting around the campfire.  It was a perfect weekend in all aspects.
^^At the dock waiting to get picked up to head to the island.
^^Craw-fishing late at night.
The views from the island.
^^Our campsite.
^^These guys such show-offs!
^^Jumping off the boat.
Cliff jumping, of course I was not participating in that--fear of heights and speed, no bueno.
^^Lazy time swimming around the dock.
^^Group shot of the gang.
I think FG is calling my name for next summer!

Pavlova

I tried this delightful, airy and chewy Australian/NZ native dessert
a couple years ago and decided I needed to try and make it sometime
because it was perfection.

I haven't made it yet, but this recipe is
screaming for me to make it before summer ends!

Park City

Going up to Park City is the perfect remedy when you need
to get away from the valley and need some
small mountain town charm.

We decided to have a girls night and celebrate
our friend Annika's birthday by
heading up to PC to ride the Alpine coaster
and then grab some food afterwards.

If you know me you know that I'm terrified of heights and speed.
Knowing that I could control the speed on this ride was
super helpful of my fears, but also super annoying for
my friends behind me...sorry ladies!

It was fun though and I think I need to head back and do the coaster
one more time, maybe not breaking the whole way down and
then try the zip-line...I am getting all adventurous here!

^^^So scared going up the hill, knowing a speedy downhill awaited me!
I think Utah has some of the prettiest cloudy sunsets.
^^^Lucky us we stumbled upon the arts festival in downtown PC {excuse the blurry photo}.
I need to head up to charming PC more often, it's the perfect get-away!
