Heading to the country.

Photobucket
This coming weekend I'm heading to Wyoming for the second year
in a row for the long Labor Day weekend.

My friend Katie's family lives the quiet life in a small town
where they host a bunch of us friends
with the best food, movies under the stars,
card games and of course going
to the big deal in town...
The Fort Bridger Rendezvous.
{Here is last year's post to give you an idea}

It's a recipe for a good time to be had.
Hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday weekend!

Les Mis

I know I know, another Les Miserables movie,
but this one has a fabulous cast
and I think this'll be the best film version yet.

I loved the broadway, I saw it in college
while studying abroad in London.
I either had a smile on my face {from excitement of being there},
or tears streaming down my face.
It was fantastic.

Can't wait for the December premiere of this one!

It's been a while since I had such a relaxing weekend
with nothing on the agenda other than to
have fun and be stress free.

Camping, bonfires, farmer's market,
pool time, catching up with friends,
crafting on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

I'd say mission accomplished.

A few minor changes.

Hello blogging friends.
I just wanted to update you all on
a few changes to my blog.

Nothing major,  just a new name and some other minor details.
Originally my blog name was Beverly Hills.

It was more of an inside joke with a few select friends and myself.

You see when I tell people my name is Beverly,
I almost always get, "Bethany?" or some
other interesting version of what they think they hear.
Plus let's be honest, Beverly is an old name, like
everyone's great aunt or grandmother's name.
It tends to throw people off.

So I have always said as kindly as possible,
said no it's Beverly like Beverly Hills.

I always get the big eyed, "Oh Beverly!"

Hence the name of my original blog.

But the city Beverly Hills {although I've been
there and it's a grand place}, is not a full description of who I am,
my style or what represents me.

So it was high and due time to change my blog name.

I thought about it and decided on A Walk In These Shoes.
It's befitting since I'm a shoe fanatic and always have been,
nothing's changing there.

I will continue documenting all of my
crazy, ridiculous, funny life experiences with the same web address.

Hope you'll continue to follow me on my adventures.

Thank you for all that read and share your input,
it always makes my day a bit brighter!

Quick trip to D.C.

A couple weeks ago I had to go to our lovely nation's capital for work.

I usually have to go there once a year for work and although I'm
usually by myself {which isn't ideal} I'm starting to like it for a few reasons,
those being that I get to explore the city at my pace, see new things everytime I go,
& try out new restaurants & hotels, so I can see what I want to do better
and differently the next time.

All in all not a shabby thing right?  This time it was a quick in and out trip, 2 days total.
The first day I was in a conference all day, but that evening after settling in my hotel
I went out to eat and then walked to all of my favorite touristy stops.  The evening was
so beautiful and the sun was shining brilliantly.

The next day I went out to my favorite part of the city, Georgetown.
It's such a quant and charming place.  I shopped, ate ice-cream,
went out to lunch and of course people watched...what else am I supposed to do?
I had no one else to entertain me, and people watching is by far the most entertaining thing
to do when by one's self.

If you haven't been to D.C. you must go, it's sure to lure you in as it has me.

This is what one would call a photo dump.
I've been soaking up summer as much as I can,
and so I've neglected my little blog.

So here's a smattering of photos from the past month or so.
Reunions with old friends, bbq's, pool time,
a wedding, a bridal shower, etc.

Summer is winding down and I still can't believe that
it's almost Labor Day, which marks the end of summer.
Crazy!

A day at the lake...

I've been on a little break from the blogging
world, but I'm back now.

A couple weekends ago, I went boating with friends up the canyon.
It was the perfect summer day, with the fabulous weather,
boating, cold treats, some magazine reading and getting that sun-kissed look I love.

Days like that make me never want summer to end.
