Garden State Recap

I leave Jersey tomorrow to head back to Utah. It has been a great trip! I have had a fun time relaxing with family and friends. It was a house full of women all week and we had fun just barbecuing, watching movies, making smore's in the fire pitt in the backyard, going to the shore and venturing into Manhattan. Some other highlights of the trip were helping my aunt with her yard sale on Friday. We had so much fun sitting outside getting sun and negotiating prices with all the interesting people that stopped by. Monday was a great day as well! I went biking around the city with my friend Jeff and my new friend Dixie. The three of us enjoyed the beautiful weather and just biking around the Hudson. I had been itching to get some shopping done in the city. So after biking Malia and I made sure to get a bit of essential shopping done. I didn't get much, but I did find some good buys indeed. Last but not least I am so grateful I got to spend time with my Grandma. Even though I had to continue to remind her who I was; this trip was something I will always remember. Let's just say her and I ended on a good note, and for that I am thrilled! Until next time Jersey!

Back To My Roots

Over 40 years ago Carlo, my father left his beloved Chile to New Jersey to start a new life. Two years later, my madre left her beloved Chile to continue to date my padre in New Jersey. They dated for three more years(they dated for a total of 8 years, shoot me now, that is patience!) and were finally married. Jersey is where it all started for the Santamaria's. I was born in Livingston and then two years later my padre decided he couldn't handle raising his children in such a crowded place and within two weeks quit his job and packed us two kids and my mom in the car and we made the long trek to Orem, Utah. I give you this detailed history because New Jersey has always had a special place in my heart and always will. I leave to the Garden state on Wednesday to visit la familia. I am excited and a bit nervous to see my Nonna (Italian for Grandma and what we grandchildren have always called her). I will spare you all the history and details with my Nonna. Let's just say it has been a long and rocky relationship, but after three years of not speaking, my family and her have made peace and spoken. I love her, I do, which is why I am going to see her. Her health is failing, and I want to make sure I see her one more time. So to Jersey I go, back where it all started.

It's Just 'Stuff' But I Missed It!

This past weekend I moved into my new place. Ashlee and I painted my room this lovely color and by Saturday I was moving all my stuff in. I have missed all of my furniture, it has been sitting in storage collecting dust for months and alas it has found a home, thank goodness! I was determined to get my room set up and done on Saturday; seeing that my schedule is hectic lately and I knew it would not get done during the weekday. Here are some pics of my room, I'm quite proud of the results and it is oh-so-nice to be sleeping back in my bed again! Thanks Ash for your help this weekend!

{Thanks to Ash again, for this desk and chair.}

{Please note all the jewelry. It is ridiculous, I need to stop the obsession. When I do clean it out if there are any takers for some jewelry let me know, it's yours!}

The Glories of Bonfires

The bonfires have begun and it makes me so happy! It is one of the joys of living in the beautiful state of Utah. Every summer you are guaranteed bonfires up the canyon, tubing down the river, bbq's, smore's, camping and many other outdoor adventures. Truly I am blessed to get to live in a place that offers so many things to do. Last week I went to a couple bonfires and I was reminded of how much I love them and everything they entail. The whole concept of it is glorious. The building of the fire, cozying up to people around the fire and just chatting, telling jokes, making smore's, playing the guitar, I love it all! Here's to the beginning of another great summer of bonfires!
