Mother's Day

{My mom is the beauty on the right}
Yesterday day being Mother's Day it got me
all reflective on all the countless hours my mom has
spent raising me, lifting my spirits, listening to me
cry, be excited, complain throughout every single
stage of my life from kindergarten into adulthood.
If you really stop and think about that it's truly amazing.
Someone that has seen you through your best and worst,
and through every awkward and exciting stage of your life.

It's no wonder there is a day dedicated to Mother's,
because they are amazing women that day in and day out
are there for you, even when they're tired themselves.
I believe parenting is such a sacred role, one that not I even
will truly understand until one day I am in that role.

To my darling mom, she deserves it all. She has been the best role
model for me with her big heart, her quiet acts of kindness, her
delicious cooking and baking, her grace and her love for God and her family.

Mom, I'll be happy if I get to be half as awesome as you one day.
Love you now, always, and forever.

To Every Mother

Happy Mother's Day to my sweet and loving mother
and to all of the other mothers in this world
who serve their families day in and day out.

What an amazing example for all of us who will one day be mothers too.

Thank you!

Mother's Day

Photobucket
That's the fam circa probably 1979-1980 ish,
no clue what I'm trying to stuff in my mouth...
not much has changed, loved food then, love it now.

Anyway with it being Mother's Day on Sunday
I couldn't let it slide by without
saying a few words about my mom.

I adore this lady, and I'd say
we have the typical mother/daughter relationship.
Without words, I know when she disapproves
or approves of me, she's a typical latin
woman, blunt and honest.
I was raised here in the states,
needless to say we've butted heads on her brutal
honesty many a times.
But nonetheless I wouldn't change her for anything.

She laughs with me, cries with me,
is my biggest fan, has taught me
to love unconditionally, taught me to
work hard, to clean well, to cook and bake,
to be humble and be kind and generous.

If I grow up to be half the woman she is,
I think I'll have accomplished something good
in this lifetime.

Here's a few snaps from Mother's Day dinner,
the men in the family cooked quite the feast!
The menu included:
{BBQ'd meats, corn on the cob, watermelon, potato salad,
salads, fresh homemade bread, grilled & glazed pineapple,
and an oreo/brownie/mint ice-cream cake}
Yeowza these guys weren't messing around!

I love my Mom

Photobucket
Yesterday being Mother's Day I think it appropriate for all of us to brag a bit about how great our mom's are. I adore this woman. I look up to her. One day I hope to be half as amazing as she is.

A few more reason's I love my mom:

  • She is the finest cook/baker. She makes the most amazing bread, I never tire of it.

  • She rearranges the furniture in her house every month or so--drives my dad crazy.

  • She gave me the name Beverly although she can't pronounce it correctly. She says, "Bevedly". It's quite endearing.

  • She and I have the exact same laugh--it used to annoy me growing up, now I love it.

  • She learned english by watching soap operas. Young & the Restless was her fave.

  • She is a little angel. She whips up meals for people that are sick, is constantly visiting the elderly.

Quite simply she's the best and I love her!
